J&K Govt Announces New Winter Timings for Kashmir Schools
Srinagar, Oct 30: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has announced new school timings across the Kashmir Division, effective from November 1, 2025, marking the annual shift to the winter schedule.
According to Order No. 309-DSEK of 2025, schools within Srinagar Municipal limits will now operate from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, while those outside Srinagar city and in other districts of the Kashmir Division will function from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The directive applies to both government and recognized private schools. The department has instructed all institutions to strictly follow the new schedule without any changes or local modifications.
Officials said that the seasonal timing adjustment is aimed at ensuring student comfort and smooth academic operations during colder months. The order has also been circulated to all Deputy Commissioners, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, and other concerned departments for strict enforcement.
The DSEK further directed the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to ensure wide publicity of the revised timings across print and electronic media so that parents and students are well-informed before the schedule comes into effect.
With temperatures dipping across the Valley, the move comes as part of the government’s routine winter preparations to adjust academic hours to shorter daylight and colder mornings
